Art at the Flower Festival
There will be 3 opportunities to view, (and buy) the paintings of local artists
Hemingford Art Club
exhibiting behind Village Hall in Centre of Village
The Hemingford Art Club has been running for over 20 years, and is a happy meeting hub for many local and talented artists to work and develop their skills alongside each other. The current group of around 30 meet weekly, and vary their programme by including exhibitions, workshops, demonstrations and plein air opportunities.
This is the first time the group have been asked to exhibit during the Hemingford Abbots Flower Festival and ten artists will be exhibiting their work. We hope many of you enjoy looking at, and hopefully buying some of our art work. Anyone who is interested in joining the group is very welcome to express their interest to one of the members who will be manning the exhibition.
Our artists look forward to welcoming you.
Riverside Art Group
exhibiting in Open Garden - Meadow Grange, Meadow Lane
The village Riverside Art Group is a small art group that evolved in late 2024.
Our group has two professional artists, along with more recent aspiring artists. We share a real passion for art and learn from each other, enjoying friendship and our artistic journey together. We meet weekly.
Six of the members are exhibiting their work at Meadow Grange as part of the Open Gardens at the Flower Festival. This is the first time Meadow Grange garden has been open to visitors.
As well as the diverse art on display and for sale, there is a themed fairy garden with fairy houses for the children (and adults !) to enjoy and face painting for them too. They can also produce their own art for display as well.
We hope as many of the visitors and villagers will come along and enjoy the exhibition, which is the Riverside Art Group’s first public exhibition.

Where do you go, or what do you immerse yourself in when you need to rebalance and find your calm? My go-tos are art and nature, there is nothing more healing than mark-making, colour mixing and stitching in my studio, or wandering along the river banks with my dog, Alfie, by my side.
I describe myself as a mixed media artist using combinations of mediums and techniques to explore my sense of self in relation to the world, or to explore a sense of place. So, my art is more about the experience of something, than a traditional representation of it.
This year, my open studio exhibition includes a series of looser, more gestural works inspired by the colours, light, textures and scents I experience walking through the local meadows and along the banks of the Great Ouse. In contrast, the exhibition also includes a series of works inspired by the calmness of the beautifully curated gardens in Tokyo and Kyoto, Japan.
During my trip to Japan I was seduced by the beauty of the Ginkgo Biloba, and its leaves are a frequent motif in my work. I love the elegant canopies, the feminine, fan-shaped leaves and the fact the Ginkgo Tree is said to be one of the only surviving trees to pre-date the dinosaurs! To me, The Ginkgo has come to represent millions of years of female strength and resilience.
But, some of my creative musings are just fun, check out the shiny Mackerel with the embroidered spout of a whale!
My work is super-detailed, so I invite you to look closely and fully immerse yourself in the colours, marks, textures and stitches, you never know you just might find your calm!
